1. Introduction

1.1 Product Description

USBsyncer can help you to synchronize files between computer and USB device and help you move files between the computer and USB device, or also helps you to scheduled backup your data between computer and USB drive. A simple wizard will help you to set up the job as you want. USBsyncer is designed to run under Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Minimum Hardware/Software Requirements
The application is compatible with Windows Server 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Server 2008 and Windows 7. The application requires a minimum screen resolution of 800x600 pixels. 512MB RAM, 500MHz Processor, 10MB free hard drive space.

 

 

2. Installation

 

2.1 Install

 

To install USBsyncer on a computer you need to have administrative rights. The installation process does not take much time. All you need to do is to follow the instructions of the USBsyncer Setup Wizard.

 

If you have already installed an older version of USBsyncer, you can install the new version on top of the older one, no need to uninstall it (the installer will recognize if the program is running and ask if you wish to close it in order to continue). You might need to close USBsyncer manually if it is in a middle of an operation.

1) Double click the USBSyncerSetup.exe then start the install Wizard.
2) Install welcome message - press Next to continue
3) License agreement - shows the USBsyncer EULA. After you read and accept it, click Yes to continue.
4) Select a setup type
· Complete - USBsyncer will be installed with the default path, by default it creates an entry in the Program Files directory.
· Custom - You can change the folder where USBsyncer will be installed.
5) Begin to install USBsyncer. Click Install to start the installation.

 

2.2 Uninstall

 

To uninstall USBsyncer, first you need to close the application. Then go to the USBsyncer application group (from the Windows Start -> Programs -> USB Syncer menu and click Uninstall USB Syncer).
You can also uninstall USB Syncer using the Add/Remove Programs option from Start->Settings->Control Panel.

Intuitive interface
The software is highly configurable and offers an intuitive interface making all features easily accessible for both beginners and professionals.

Manage multiple sync, move and backup jobs
This software allows defining multiple sync, move and backup jobs and saving them for future use. On the main window, you have an overview of all defined jobs organized in groups.

 

Start at windows startup and run at mini window

You can start this application at windows startup and run it in mini window or minimize it to the system tray.

 

Automatic updates
USBsyncer can check for updates either manually or automatically when the program starts. This allows you to better stay in touch with the latest development of USBsyncer.

Logs
The operations performed by USBsyncer are logged. This allows you to see the status of performed operations (sync, move, backup/restore). A job History view is available too (which also lets you export the information as .log).

 

 

 

 

4. Getting Started


How to Configure a file sync job?

1. On the program main window click Synchronize files between computers and USB drives button

 

2. On the Create sync pair window

A. Enter the name of you new job

B. Select files transfer direction, the wizard provide three transfer directions, In both directions, only to computer and only to USB drive.

C: Select How to handle conflicts, the default set Ask me what to do

D: Select one local pc folder as your sync folder, or you can click the New Folder button to make a new folder

E: Select one USB drive folder as your sync folder, or you can click the New Folder button to make a new folder

F: Local PC and USB drive folder has selected then click the Add Pair to make a sync pair

G: Then the created sync pair will list on the Pair list tab

 

 

 

6. On Do you want to filter the files window

A: Enter the extension name if you want to filter some kind of files, like .mp3, .dot

B: Click the Add button to add this extension name into the filter list

C: If you want to remove some extensions name from filter list, select it then click the Remove button

 

 

7. On wizard completed window

A: Click Save and Run button to run this job immediately

B: Or click Save button to add this job into job list.

 

Move files between computers and USB drives

1. On the program main window click Move files between computers and USB drives.

 

2. On the direction selection window

A. Move files from USB drive to Local PC or LAN drive (default setting)

B. Move files from Local PC or LAN drive to USB drive

 

 

2.On the Where do you want to save you moved files window

A. Enter the name of you new job

B. Select a folder as your files moved target folder, or click the New Folder to create a new folder.

 

3. On what do you want to move window

A: Select you want to moved folder in the folder tree list

B: Click the Analyse button for analyse the drive storage space after moved

 

6. On Do you want to filter the files window

A: Enter the extension name if you want to filter some kind of files, like .mp3, .dot

B: Click the Add button to add this extension name into the filter list

C: If you want to remove some extensions name from filter list, select it then click the Remove button

 

7. On wizard completed window

A: Click Save and Run button to run this job immediately

B: Or click Save button to add this job into job list.

 

 

Backup files between computers and USB drives.

1. On the program main window click Backup files between computers and USB drives.

 

2. On the direction selection window

A. Backup files from USB drive to Local PC or LAN drive (default setting)

B. Backup files from Local PC or LAN drive to USB drive

 

 

2. On Backup Settings window

A. Enter the name of you new job

B. Select which backup type you want to perform

 

3. On Where do you want to save your backup window

A: Select which folder you want to as the backup target folder, or click the New folder button to create a new folder for backup target.

 

3. On what do you want to backup window

A: Select which folder you want to backup into PC

 

6. On Do you want to filter the files window

A: Enter the extension name if you want to filter some kind of files, like .mp3, .dot

B: Click the Add button to add this extension name into the filter list

C: If you want to remove some extensions name from filter list, select it then click the Remove button

 

7. On wizard completed window

A: Click Save and Run button to run this job immediately

B: Or click Save button to add this job into job list.

 

 

Restore a backup job

A. On program main window the job list tab and right click the backup job you want to do restore, then select the Open Restore from the prompt menu

 

4. On Open Backup Data window

A: Select you want to restore backup data version

 

5. On Select Files & Folders To Restore window

A: Select which folder or files you want to restore.

 

 

4. On Where do you want to restore window

A: Check the Original location or Choose another location

5. On Wizard Completed window

A: Click Restore button to start.

 

 

 

System Tray Icon

The System tray icon will appear when you launch USBsyncer, and when you start Windows USBsyncer also will automatically be launched in the system tray. It has the following appearance:

Mini-Window shows only status of all running jobs.
